Friesblond young is a very light cheese with a fresh taste. It’s lower in fat than the other varieties, but still surprisingly tasty. The young Friesblond cheeses contain a maximum of 0,01% lactose, which makes them perfectly suitable for those who have a lactose intolerance. This 30+ is naturally ripened for around 5 weeks. This short ripening process gives it its soft texture and gentle, light taste.
Fat 30+, pasteurized cow's milk, rennet, salt, starter culture, vitamins A, B and D
Very typical for all Friesblond cheeses is that they don’t contain any additives or artificial coloring agents. This is why their color is so light, which is simply the natural color of cheese, and the reason they call it ‘blond’. The cheese is made in Friesland, (a Northern province of the Netherlands), using 100% meadow milk. This means that the cows graze outside for the biggest part of the year, for at least 6 hours a day. This gives them an unlimited access to fresh grass, clovers, dandelions and other meadow flowers. This approach results in the fresh and natural taste of all their cheeses.
The Friesblond young cheese is ripened in a natural way. They add nothing but milk, a starter culture and rennet. This is all it takes to make a creamy and tasty cheese. Once produced, they are naturally ripened at a wooden shelf until they have the right consistency and flavor.
