A genuine Dutch classic: Maasdammer holey cheese. The characteristic air-bubbles arise in the cheese during the maturation process and are in fact unwanted. However, because of its distinctive sweet flavour the holey cheese became quite popular among Dutch cheese lovers. The formation of the holes causes the development of flavourings that normally would not arise in common farmhouse cheeses. We sell semi-matured Maasdammer holey cheese which has natured in 8 to 10 weeks. Especially your children will appreciate the sweetness of this cheese! 

Ingredients:
Fat 48+, pasteurised cow's milk, rennet, salt, lactic acid

The hard structure of Dutch cheese makes it perfectly suitable for sending by post.

Maasdammer holey cheese:
Maasdammer cheese is a delicious Dutch holey cheese. The characteristic holes in the cheese come in to being as an effect of the special preparation method and the distinctive maturation process. The formation of the air-bubbles causes the development of unusual flavourings that would not arise during a normal preparation process. The flavour of the holey cheese can be described as sweet and a bit nutty. Maasdammer has a great melting quality which makes it a suitable alternative to Emmentaler as a fondue cheese.

It is not your French Maasdam cheese that was so common in Russia just a few months ago. This is authentic Dutch Maasdammer - not so sweet, but as mild.

We have bought this cheese before. It is creamy, with a lovely nutty flavour. My wife's favourite. The cheese arrived, as usual, very promptly and in good condition. Recommended.
