Old Amsterdam Matured cheese
Our Old Amsterdam Matured is a mature cheese made of cows milk, that is a bit more salty and spicy than regular aged cheese. Just like the original Old Amsterdam, this variety is a bit spicy with sweet aftertaste, which makes it very balanced. Could it be this combination of sweet- and spiciness that made it win some prestigious awards?
Ingredients Old Amsterdam Matured:
Fat 48+, pasteurized cow's milk, salt, starter culture, Vegaterian rennet (microbial), preservative E251, coloring anatto
Old Amsterdam Matured is a semi matured, high fat cheese (48+). The taste can be called spicy, but also somewhat creamy. It’s a good pick for those who like a firm cheese with a strong flavor, and perfect for sandwiches. It combines very well with mustard, apple syrup or some slices of cucumber. Cut into cubes it’s the perfect addition to a cheese platter, preferably with a sweet dip.
This aged Old Amsterdam is sold by piece, not in slices. We cut every piece after you order it, vacuum wrap it and ship it cooled. Since it’s a hard cheese it’s no problem at all to ship it by mail. Since it’s wrapped airtight the shelf life is two months, after opening you preferably eat it within 4 weeks.
