Origin

The red Cheddar finds its origin in Leicestershire, England. The cheese is made from pasteurized cow's milk. Since the 18th century, the cheese has been characterized by a reddish orange skin with a powdery mold on it. The skin is colored as a result of the addition of annatto extract during production. The cheese is usually aged for 6 to 12 months until it is fully developed.
