The Shropshire Blue originates in Great Britain. Despite its name, the cheese is actually not made in Shropshire. The cheese was originally produced in Scotland, but nowadays production takes place in the Stilton-producing regions of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire. The appearance and taste is very similar to that of a Stilton. The difference, however, lies in the addition of the natural colorant annatto to the Shropshire Blue. This makes the cheese more colorful. In addition, the texture is also somewhat firmer. The Shropshire Blue has already won several prizes. For example, the cheese won the Supreme Champion award at the British Cheese Awards 2016. The cheese was also named Best English Cheese and Best Blue Cheese.

This blue cheese was a revelation. Felt like I got the best of a cheddar and a blue in one cheese. It was amazing on a burger.
